Measures to protect cats
Tuesday, February 17, 2015
Meg Munn MP recently met Jacqui Cuff, Advocacy Manager for the Cats Protection League, to discuss the work they are doing to influence Government policy on cats. The League has been consulting on a number of proposed measures which will be included in a cat manifesto to be launched in February ahead of the General Election.
An estimated 17% of householders in the UK have around 8 million cats between them, including Meg. Her two cats, Polly and Lucy, were looked after by one of the League’s 9000 volunteers until she adopted them 14 years ago.
“Cats and other pets are an important part of life for many people in the UK. Making sure we have the right legislation to protect them from harm is important and a mark of a civilised society. I support the Cats Protection League and appreciate the work done by the many volunteers who help to ensure it continues.”
