Local MP wants compulsory eye-testing for drivers

Friday, February 20, 2015

During a recent television interview with Sheffield Live to discuss road safety Heeley MP Meg Munn called for a change in the law so that that drivers have to get regular eye tests throughout their driving lives.

Following the tragic death of her constituent, Fiona Buckley, who was knocked down by a driver with cataracts in both eyes, the local MP has been campaigning for a change in the law that would see drivers have to have their eyes tested every ten years when they renew their license.

Meg said:

“We should regularly look at road safety issues and raise awareness so that we can make a simple change in the law which will save lives.”
