Making a difference for young carers

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Meg Munn MP recently bid a fond farewell to Sheffield Young Carers, a charity she has been Patron of for over two and a half years. She has really enjoyed being Patron and attending as many events as possible to support them.

She was also able to arrange a trip for a group of young carers to visit Westminster and raise concerns with the Children’s Minister, as well as speak up for young carers rights as a member of the Care Bill (now the Care Act) public bill committee.

The Heeley MP was also delighted to offer her congratulations on the news that Sheffield Young Carers have recently secured a contract to continue delivering services for young carers from Sheffield City Council. The contract, which lasts for three years, will provide security and allow Sheffield Young Carers to build on their current work and continue to provide high quality support all over the city.

Meg said:

“It has been a huge privilege to be Patron of Sheffield Young Carers, a really special organisation who make a huge difference to so many young people. I am so proud to have been able to help them in their valuable work and wish them the best of luck for the future.”
