Arbourthorne School’s new garden and playground
Saturday, March 28, 2015
Meg Munn’s final constituency visit as an MP was the official opening of a new garden and playground named after her. Arbourthorne School decided that they wanted to thank her for all the work undertaken with the school during her 14 years as the local MP.
When Meg unveiled a plaque on the equipment the children let balloons fly off into the sky in celebration. The new playground has lots of wonderful features including water play, wigwams and climbing frames.
Meg chose an inspirational quote for the plaque - “The eyes of the children are the visions of the future.” It is a Maori saying that she saw on a board outside a school in New Zealand.
“When I was first elected the school was housed in a broken down building, it’s now a beautiful school which provides an education second to none. I have enjoyed the close contact with the school over the years and am surprised and honoured that they have chosen to do this.
This is a wonderful playground and I cannot think of anything nicer than to have a playground named after me. It was a lovely event and I will treasure the memories from the day.”
