School Parliament questions MP

Thursday, January 15, 2015

Local MP Meg Munn recently visited Woodseats primary school to speak to members of the newly formed Woodseats ‘School Parliament’.

Students from a range of year groups quizzed the local MP about her role and asked for advice about how they could be effective members of their own parliament. Although the School Parliament was only formed 5 weeks ago, Meg was really impressed with the enthusiasm of the students and how interesting their questions were.

Students also asked the Heeley MP to raise their concerns about road safety and to see if she could work with the Council to help them secure space for a school field.

Meg said:

“It was great to visit Woodseats to meet the newly elected members of the School Parliament and to hear what they like about their school. The School Parliament is only just up and running but from what I’ve seen already I am sure a few of the students have the potential to go on and be Members of Parliament, but maybe not for a few years yet!”
