Road concerns at local Mosque

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

Heeley MP Meg Munn recently visited the Makki Mosque to meet members and heard their concerns about proposals to widen Chesterfield Road. They believe this will affect Plantation Road and could inadvertently limit access to the Mosque.

For a number of years the Makki Mosque has managed with very limited parking and members were concerned that the proposals would make this even worse. Meg reassured them she will work with the Council to ensure that their concerns were listened to and addressed before any final decisions are taken.

Meg said:

“I enjoy meeting members of the Makki Mosque and catching up with many old friends. The Mosque always makes me feel incredibly welcome and it was great that so many members of the community came.

Unfortunately parking and access remains a huge problem but I have no intentions on giving up trying to find a solution, and I know the community certainly won’t be!”
