Volunteers doing excellent job at local library

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Meg Munn MP recently visited Newfield Green Library which since the beginning of October, has been under the management of the Gleadless Valley Community Forum and a team of volunteer librarians.

Meg met volunteers who told her how much they were enjoying spending time at the Library and helping local people. The Library is currently open for 15 hours per week and 15 volunteers have been recruited so far.

An annex of the Charity Shop has been located to the library selling children’s clothes and Activity Sheffield will have a weekly evening session on Tuesday evenings.

Meg said:

“I met Karen, Marj and Colin who are doing an excellent job at Newfield Green Library. Without them and many others giving up their time there was a real risk of the Library closing.

Libraries are such an important community resource so I am pleased to see this one going from strength to strength under the leadership of Gleadless Valley Community Forum.”
