Let's see in the New Year with a hunt ban

Thursday, December 18, 2003

SAY two Sheffield MPs

Meg Munn MP and Clive Betts MP, two Sheffield Labour MPs today reiterated their determination to see a ban on hunting with dogs become a reality.

Meg and Clive have pledged they will continue to work for their constituents by pushing for the Hunting Bill to be reintroduced to Parliament at the earliest possible opportunity.

Meg Munn MP said: “My constituents have repeatedly told me that they want to see an end to the horrific cruelty of hunting with dogs.

“This Boxing Day will see hunts, both in Sheffield and around the country, continue to flout public opinion by indulging in a cruel spectacle which reaches its bloody climax with the needless death of wildlife.”

Clive Betts went on to say “I will continue to push for the current Hunting Bill to be reintroduced - and for a ban on hunting to become law - so that this cruelty is stopped. An end to hunting would be an excellent reason for celebration as we see in the New Year.”

Meg and Clive, together with Campaigning to Protect Hunted Animals, the anti hunt coalition group consisting of the League Against Cruel Sports, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, continue to be at the forefront of the campaign to stop hunting with dogs.
